Think and Grow Rich, Pt 2; How Much Do You Need to Work Online?

by Julie Anna

work onlineLet’s face it making money online is hard work. For you to work online it takes focus, but not only focus, it takes a gut directed drive or a deep desire to make it happen. I talked about the steps required for this drive outlined by Napoleon Hill in Think and Grow Rich . In my first post in my blog series which debunks wrong thinking on what it takes to succeed online Think and Grow Rich Pt 1; What Will Work Online Passion or Desire? I mentioned the difference between passion and desire. Hill’s book gives us a blueprint in how to achieve this required desire to be very successful in our online career. If you aren’t familiar with the book it’s in the public domain and can be downloaded for free. Think and Grow Rich PDF

Here is a summary to chapter one titled Step 1 Toward Riches:  Desire

Thoughts are things. Think about what you want and know what that is in your very core. Wishing will not bring you success but dreaming will if the dreams are put into action. Desiring success to the point of obsession with planning definite ways to acquire it through goal setting will bring these dreams to reality. Backing those plans with thoughts which do not recognize failure will bring you what you desire even quicker. A quote from Think and Grow Rich supports my view:

Put your dreams across, and never mind what “they” say if you meet with temporary defeat, for “they” perhaps, do not know that every failure brings with it the seed of an equivalent success.

Now on to the first step to develop desire toward your goal of making great money while you work online.

Step one in creating desire: Be definite to the amount you would like to earn . This can be as little as $100 a week to $100 a day to thinking really big to several hundred a day. It doesn’t matter what the amount so much as a set amount in your mind for now. For purposes of a means in which to measure your goal this amount must be firmly planted in your brain. Place this goal in a spot where you will often see it.

After setting this goal visualize your life better as the owner of the said amount. Think about the desired amount of money (I also pray to solidify my vision since I need His blessing in it) and get a pad of paper then write down all the thoughts which come to mind in ways you can earn this amount of money online. If you are like me and need to talk through these ideas with people join me at my favorite place to brainstorm and brain dump.

Set a monetary goal and visualize ways to meet that goal. Try and use mind mapping software, pen and paper or dictate into a recorder. The purpose is to get the possible ways to meet your goal out of your brain and recorded somewhere.

As we go through the next steps together I’d like you to look at what you are doing to pay it forward in your business or the sacrifices you have to make and get busy doing that on a regular basis (if it is for your loved ones definitely start there).

Tell me what your goals are in the comments below – whether they are a set price or a concept of how your life will look, tell me so we can dream together.

I recently put the mind map software on my computer and signed up for Bob’s stuff. Looking forward to learning how to mind map to see what it can do for me.

I love this post, JA, because it reminds me of two things. It reminds me to focus on my strong desire to make this work. I forget that sometimes in the humdrum of just getting things done online, you know?

And it also reminds me to focus on a dollar amount. And I like that you’ve said $100 a week – I think I’ll have that as my focus for now. Sounds like a plan!

Thanks for the post!

Great topic – also one of my favorite books. I have TAGR in both PDF format and print format, and also the workbook for TAGR they offer on Amazon.

I love this particular piece, about qualifying your goals. It is incredibly important to qualify every goal with a specific number – how many days, how many years, how many dollars, etc.

Looking forward to Part 3 in this series!

I’m with Lisa Marie – I forget to add that dollar figure to my goals. And it all boils down to the fact that I’m afraid that I won’t reach it!

Here’s my goal – and it has a monetary value for me. I have a bill that I want to pay off before the end of the year.

And even now, I hesitate to click ‘Submit’! But here goes…
