One of my favorite books that I try to read at least once a year is the book titled Think and Grow Rich. I especially like how you can plan your business using the principles discussed in the book.
In continuing the series on Hill’s book let’s take a look at our second step in the subject of creating desire. I bet you didn’t think you could actually take action to create desire, but you can. Besides serious focus we need to do not only change our thinking in our endeavor to become successful online.
Determine exactly what you intend to give in return for the money you desire.
Let’s dig into this a bit. I love action steps. I want to do something to make my goals happen!
In today’s vernacular this step would be termed as “paying it forward”. Here’s some helpful questions “What’s it all for and what am I willing to give in exchange for this success?” Perhaps the what, which may be defined as your why, can be replaced with the word who. Profound sentence, huh? … Who is it all for? Why do I want success so badly I think about it all the time?
… and what am I willing to give to achieve this success?
For me, one of the exchanges has been trading my very limited resource of time working day and sometimes long hours into the night in exchange for a better life for the people I love. This time suck isn’t forever and was pretty intense in the early days of building my online business but it was the sacrifice laid out in the beginning to achieve the latter end. In the future I worked fewer hours when my income increased exponentially and passively. At that junction, when the income was more stable and passive, I now am able to give both time and money to the people I love.
What one is willing to give and the philosophy behind a giving attitude is the strongest of all qualities wealthy individuals have - almost without exception they are all givers. In every biography written of thought leaders and successful people you will find a common thread of generosity not only in finances but in time and resources. It underscores the idea of what the goal really is all about and that you excel when you help others. The money should be a means to a bigger purpose.

A never before opportunity exists on the internet now. The opportunity to give is huge. We can give away information and expertise that has been earned through many, many hours of toil and hard work. We can just simply give away very valuable information earned through the school of hard knocks.
I am blessed, and blessed often, with caring and highly successful people giving of their time and resources without it costing me a dime in online forums. I, in turn, hang out in forums and discussion groups to give of my time in my trade knowledge. Interacting in forums and on discussion lists is a great way to not only give advice and feel wonderful about helping others but to also be deemed as an expert. Helping other people is a way to pay it forward since what you have learned and hopefully applied in your online business was received from successful people who were further on the trail than you. It is vital to have a giving spirit in all aspects of life.
Take a moment and think of one single way you can give in your business. Now do a variation of that or come up with a few other ways and make those steps part of your business plan. Plan it into your monthly tasks. That’s all it has to be – an extra little bit of time each month focusing on giving just because.
