What is freedom and can we all have it?

Freedom attached with the word financial seems to be the recent internet buzz word.

Here are my thoughts on the subject of freedom. This may be the time in which they resonate with you.

ebay, home business,Before the advent of corporate America our citizens experienced much more freedom than the typical American experiences today. What, you say, how can that be with our level of technology? Think about it. When there weren’t so many distractions and meetings and classes we had more freedom to be with the people we cared about. We simply didn’t have the time to grow our knowledge base because the survival of the family depended on labor to feed, clothe and shelter the family. Typically the family worked together while providing these necessities. Then came the factory and big production.

Now let’s talk about what are the American people are trained to do in our education system? They’re trained to work for someone else based on the factory turned big business model.

We don’t equip our young people to be innovative, creative and thinkers. We continue to teach a model which worked the last 100 years when the factories and businesses paid very well, guaranteed perks, and a lucrative retirement pension to all its full-time employees. We all know these companies are no longer in existence providing employment to the masses, for the most part, especially with our current economical status here in the US. Relatively speaking, the few big companies which are left catering to the future of its employees aren’t doing it on a massive level in which they once were. The upper management and board members are secure in these corporations – hm, maybe? Really it is an illusion should any employee of these companies believe their retirement is secure. How many companies continue to downsize and move overseas?

One of the reasons we left Corporate America is because we didn’t have the freedom we believe God intended us to have. We left nearly seven years ago before the scare tactics (and real terror) were firmly in place. You can visit our About Us page to get more details on our story and how selling on eBay was the stepping stone in bringing Dad home but I’ll recap here.
America in Bondage
We were just sick over giving our primary years to a business that was being built for another family(ies). Why give our best hours, our optimal years of health and strength, and creativity to an entity that had leaders in it who really could care less and replace us in a matter of minutes? Who was it profiting? How many dads and moms are so worn and beat from the work world to the point that they literally have nothing left each night to give to their spouse and children? Indeed, there are men and women who can do it all, but I’d venture to say there are more who just can’t.

THERE IS ANOTHER WAY. Yes, I am shouting. Ultimately, the direction we have gone is much more secure than either the Navy or upper level management provided us – although it was terrifying until we learned to think “right”. We aren’t relying on an outside means in which to feed our family. My Dh won’t lose his 401K or his pension at 27 years of service.

We started a simple tiny business on eBay. Ok, enough about us. You can do this.

Successful Happy Free FamilyOur country is still ringing freedom from bondage in many ways. Our thinking has been framed to help the rich get richer and keep the poor poor. There is another way. eBay, while it has its many problems, is certainly a beginning in stepping out and doing something independent from the crowd. Yes, it can be overwhelming and scary but what jump isn’t?
